The Supply Chain, Mobility and Logistics (SML Awards) 2026 have been officially launched, with the aim of recognizing and celebrating individuals and organizations driving economic growth through the supply chain, transportation, mobility, and logistics sectors.
Speaking during the launch, SML Awards Chief Executive Officer Amon John described the awards as a platform to recognize the “engine of the country’s economy.”
“Tanzania is surrounded by several landlocked countries. We want to recognize supply chain professionals—from the moment cargo leaves factories in China, the United States, Dubai, and other parts of the world, to everyone involved in moving it. This includes the banking sector, clearing and forwarding companies, transport operators, and all those responsible for delivering cargo from the ports to its final destination,” said Amon John.
He compared the industry to the human circulatory system.
“Just as blood vessels carry blood from the heart to every part of the body, the supply chain, mobility, and logistics sector connects businesses and economies by ensuring the smooth movement of goods and services.”
Meanwhile, Chief Operating Officer Abdil Adam said the initiative is designed to strengthen trade between Tanzania and international markets while positioning the country as a regional logistics hub.
“At our flagship event in October, we expect to welcome delegates from more than 50 countries. The programme will feature panel discussions on key logistics challenges, including cargo losses and supply chain efficiency. The SML Awards are not just about presenting trophies—they are about recognizing individuals and organizations making a positive impact across the entire supply chain, mobility, and logistics ecosystem,” he said.
Nominations for the SML Awards 2026 are open until 31 July 2026, while the awards ceremony will take place on 30 October 2026 at the Superdome, Masaki, Dar es Salaam. Participation in the nomination process is free of charge.
The awards will recognize excellence across the transportation, logistics, supply chain, ICOMAS, marine, and aviation sectors. The programme is open to participants from Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Malawi, and Kenya, reflecting the awards’ regional focus.
The nomination process has officially opened, and submissions can now be made through the official SML Awards social media platforms.
